Myanthya Hittu / Menthe Hittu / MethKoot

"Myanthya hittu" is basically from north Karnataka & Maharashtra dish . It is given to kids more as it is more nutritious powder . It tastes awesome with hot - hot rice and ghee and little table salt .


Ingredients:-

  1. Dhaniya / coriander seeds              2-3 tsp
  2. Fenugreek seeds / methi seeds          1 tsp
  3. Toor dal / Tuvar dal                        1 cup
  4. Chana dal                                        1 cup
  5. Urad dal                                           1 cup
  6. Moong dal                                     1/2 cup
  7. Horse gram                                    2-3 tsp (optional)
  8. Rice                                                 2  tsp
  9. Wheat / broken wheat                     4-5 tsp
  10. Pepper                                             1/4 tsp
  11. Jeera                                                 2 tsp
  12. Turmeric powder                             1 tsp
  13. Curry leaves                                1/2 cup or more
  14. Red chilly                                    2-4
  15. Hing                                            1/4 tsp

Method:-
Dry roast each ingredient separately in a kadai/ pan till they are crisp and aromatic on low medium flame. don't burn ingredients.

Allow them to cool to room temperature .Mix nicely and make smooth powder by adding little salt in a mixer jar .
In a big vessel mix the powder properly & store in a airtight container . Menthe hittu is ready to eat .
It tastes good with hot rice and ghee .
