" Bisi bele bath " is a Karnataka's famous dish , you can get it in any hotel or restorent's in Karnataka .It is a delicious , healthy dish which can be done at any time like for break fast , lunch or dinner. Since this is very famous food , Karnataka people will order, this to be cooked in their many home functions , official functions , marriages . Such a popular dish it is. Very simple to cook also.
Ingredients:-
- Normal rice 3/4 of measuring cup
- Toor dal 3/4 of measuring cup
- Carrot 2 medium size
- Beens 12-15
- Potato 1
- Fresh Green peas 1/2 bowl
- Onion 1 big
- Red chilly 4
- Red chilly powder 1 tsp
- MTR bisibele bath powder 5 tsp = 1 tbsp
- Dry coconut flakes 1 bowl
- Salt 2 tsp
- Jaggery 3 tsp
- Tamarind liquid 1 cup
- Hing / asafoetida 2 pinch
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves 7-8
- Soaked Ground nuts 1/2 cup
- Oil 1 & 1/2 tbsp
- Water
Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time : 20 min
Serves : 4
Method:-
Wash rice n dal , add to a cooker , for 1 cup of rice add 3 cups of water , so in this ratio u need to add 9 cups of water to cooker (including rice n dal)add soaked peanuts (soak in water for 15 min) , close the cooker , keep it on medium flame , after 1 visual turn off the stove.
Cut the vegetables little bit bigger size , as shown in below pic.
Keep a big kadai / vessel (take heavy bottom vessel) , add oil, heat it for 1 min , now add mustard seeds , when they crackle add hing , curry leaves saute it and again add red chilly (break in to 2) saute it .
Now add onion fry for 2 min , add all veg's saute for 2 min , add 1 tsp of salt and saute it for 3-4 min on medium flame Now add 1 cup of water , tamarind liquid , cooked rice and dal and mix well , add red chilly powder , MTR powder , 1 tsp of salt , jaggery and mix well on medium flame for 5 min , now add dry coconut flakes and mix well let it be cooked for 5 more min's , you can see it starts boiling after 2 -3 min , you turn off the stove.
Bisi bele bath is ready to serve , have it with ghee and save nice combination .

- You need to stir frequently while cooking bisibelebath , other wise very soon it will stick to bottom.
- According to your taste increase salt and chilly powder , if u want more thin texture then add some more water.
- If you don't have green peas n potato you can skip it , if u have dry peas then soak them previous night so that you can use them while cooking bath next morning.
