This is my and my family's all time favourite dish . It is very very tasty and filling dish. In bangalore hotels i saw this dish with name of akki rotti but we call it as thalipettu . Few people will do thalipettu by mixing some other flours also but i never tried , i will try some time and if i liked it i will post that also.
Ingredients :-
- Rice flour 3 cups (measuring cup which i showed in other posts )
- Onion chopped 2 big
- Chilly chopped 3-4
- Jeera / cumin seeds 2 tsp
- Chana daal 2 - 3 tsp
- Dill leaves chopped 1 bunch
- Coriander leaves chopped 1 small bowl
- Curry leaves chopped 6-8
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Salt ( to ur taste) 1 tsp
- Oil
- Water
Take a kadai or big bowl to nead atta . Add 2 cups of rice flour , spread salt , jeera , turmeric powder and chana daal .
Now add chopped onion , chilly , dill leaves , coriander leaves , and curry leaves (if u want u can also add grated carrot / methi leaves).
Take one big glass of water in a vessel and keep it on stove and while water starts boiling make the stove very small and from left hand slowly add 1 cup of rice floor to it and from right hand stir it with a big spoon (it should happen simultaneously so i am mentioning hands ) now turn off the stove and mix well keep it aside . Let it cool for 5 min. ( u can check this procedure pics in godhi kadubu recipe same s followed here ) .
Mix all the ingredients well in the kadai , add the baked rice flour to it sprinkle little by little water and knead the mixture to form dough.
Knead the atta to make dough like this.
Make balls of this dough let it be of orange size otherwise you cant roll much . Take a nonstick paper / aluminum foil / plastic sheet grease it with oil also grease the rolling pin too.
Now roll the dough ball using rolling pin as much you can roll , adjust the edges with ur fingers if broken .
Heat the thava for 2- 3 mins with high flame , now keep low flame, Spred the oil on thava (may be 1 tsp) place this sheet on thava facing thalipettu downwards , now slowly try to lift the sheet with left hand and hold the thalipettu with flat spatula , and remove the sheet completely. Again spread little oil on thalipettu , now keep medium flame and let it bake for 2 min , flip over it and wait for 1 or 2 min , you can see light brown spots that means its done.
Thats it hot hot thalipettu is ready to eat , repeat the same procedure for complete dough .You can serve it with coconut chutney / kemp chutney / chutney pudi / ghee / curd / mango pickle .
All the best , eat healthy and be healthy :)
Try and enjoy thalipettu and let me know how you felt .
