FLAX seeds are very healthy seeds which contains omega -3 fats which we can not find in vegetarian diet , they are full of nutrition . Making flax seeds chutney powder is very easy , & it tastes wow . It helps you in the busy mornings when no time to make coconut chutney . You can enjoy it with south indian break fasts like poha , puffed rice , upma , dosa , idli , paddu , etc . with chapathi / roti you should eat this powder mixing with curd it will be awesome .
So do try and enjoy . You can Store it in dry & air tight bottle For months together , but it will get emptied soon by ur family :) .
- Flax seeds / agase beeja 1 cup
- Urad dal / uddina bele 3/4 cup
- Chana dal / kadle bele 1/2 cup
- Tamarind 1 lemon size cut into small pieces
- Red chilli 20 or more
- Jaggery 4-5 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Curry leaves 1 cup washed and wiped
Seasoning
- Oil 2 tsp + 1 tsp
- Mustard 1 tsp
- Hing 1 pinch (paste / powder)
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Method:-
Dry roast chana dal , urad dal , flax seeds separately on low flame for 8-10 min each , don't make too much brown just little colour change is enough . keep in separate plates , allow it to cool .
In pan add 1 tsp of oil , add red chilli n tamarind pieces and fry , after 1 min add curry leaves & fry till they are crisp . Remove them to separate plate allow it to cool .
Now add 2 tsp of oil to pan heat it , add mustard when they splutter add hing , turmeric powder mix well and turn off the stove .
Make powder of chana dal , urad dal , flax seeds , red chilli mixture separately and add to tempering , add salt mix , & jaggery powder mix well every thing . now again take little batches in jar just grind one round put in a big bowl or vessel , lastly mix well and keep it in air tight , dry container .
